Healthcare
The West Island is served by the Lakeshore General Hospital (English), located in Pointe Claire, the Centre-Hospitalier Lachine and the Hôpital du Sacré-Coeur de Montréal (French), as well as several walk-in clinics and Community Health Centres called CLSC's. There are two children's hospitals serving English and French, both located downtown.
Universal health care is provided free of charge in Quebec and each resident is issued a health insurance card (medicare card). New residents are eligible after living in the province for 3 months. If you come from elsewhere in Canada, you will be reimbursed by your province or origin for any claims during this initial period.
